UK Pop star Nina Nesbitt builds her music "Empire" on headlining North American Tour
Updated: Jul 10, 2019
25 year old Nina Nesbitt, who is currently residing in London made her third stop of her tour Tuesday night at Vinyl in Atlanta.
The pretty in pink pop star opened up with "Somebody Special" which is a song featured on her recent album release 'The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change' which is also the name of her first headlining tour in the states.
Direct support for Nina was Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Sophie Rose, who has an impressive resume for being 18 years old. Sophie Rose has hit songs "Aces High" (featured in Fox's show 'Empire'), and 'Friends Forever' which was licensed by MasterCard for their "Stand Up to Cancer" campaign a couple of years back. She has a Taylor Swift meets Katy Perry tone to her music, and the crowd she brought in showed it- lots of girl power and fun energy! It was the perfect girls night out for a weeknight.
A couple of popular tunes Sophie Rose performed were "Best Friend" which was about going through the hurt and acceptance of growing apart from your childhood best friend. She also performed "Famous" which hit me right in the heart- Sophie wrote this song because she didn't have a lot of support from family and friends while pursuing her endeavors as a musician along with inequality against women in the music industry. Nesbitt performed many tracks from her new album such as "Chloe", "Colder" and occasionally transitioned from singing and playing piano to engaging with her fans front and center of the stage. She gracefully transitioned from the crowd chanting word for word to an acoustic set where she played her guitar and performed tearjerker "Things I Say When You Sleep." The fans appreciated the vulnerability from the artist and so did I. Nina told us about her amusing experience in Buckhead going into a jewelry store with huge diamond chains that rappers would wear and the salesman trying to sell this petite lady a bunch of fancy jewelry. She politely declined and told the salesman she left her credit card back in the UK. (Smart girl!)
The pop star also brought Sophie Rose on stage for an exclusive duet for her newly released song "Psychopath" which is the FIRST collaboration song recorded at Spotify studios. The two shared the stage, gave us a couple of twirls, just enjoying themselves. You can tell these girls have a fire burning within them, they both took a moment to talk about their trials and tribulations to get to where they are today. Most importantly, they were supporting each other as female musicians. They explained that we shouldn't be pinned against each other, there's just no reason why we can't all pursue our dreams and still support someone else. For full gallery make sure to admit one.
